Bolting Up Google Calendar to Thunderbird
I've been a Mozilla Thunderbird email client user for ages and it's been great to see the recent updates that have expanded functionality. The integration of the Lightning calendar in version 78 simplifies life. It's also opened up the possibility of direct integration with Google Calendar.
I'd used the separate Thunderbird plug-in in earlier versions, but it wasn't solid. The CalDAV support in Lightning seemed to be more stable. The hitch was that there didn't seem to be much information in how to make the whole thing work. In the interest of saving time for any other folks who want to journey down this path, I'll document some key points here.
